HUBZone Certification is an SBA federal registration that designates your business qualification as operating in a historically underutilized business zone (HUBZone), with at least 35% of your employees also living within a HUBZone designated area.
The purpose of the HUBZone Certification is to provide contracting opportunities for businesses located in
economically depressed or rural areas to stimulate business growth and job creation.
The SBA goal across all federal agencies is 3% of procurement spending specifically with HUBZone Certified business.
Last year, the federal government awarded $14.3 Billion to HUBZone businesses, (or 2.5%) falling short of their goal.

HUBZone Eligibility
SBA Qualification Criteria:

At least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by a U.S. citizen(s), or a Community Development Corp, and Agricultural Cooperative, or an Native American Indian Tribe.

Have your principal office location within a "Historically Underutilized Business Zone," which includes lands considered 'Indian Country' and military facilities closed by the Base Realignment and Closure Act.

At least 35% of the business's employees must reside within a HUBZone.

HUBZone locations are determined based on income level, unemployment rate, and other demographic information for geographic areas.
